Getting rehired at CERTEGO

2/23/24 3:41 PM

Meet Victor Baldemark, a salesperson and project manager who has worked at CERTEGO in two periods since 2017.

We visited Västerås and met Victor Baldemark, who has worked with us in two stints. Today, Victor is a project manager and salesperson, but he has also worked as a lock technician with us. He is from Stenungssund, a few miles north of Gothenburg, and moved to Västerås in 2016.

How did you end up at CERTEGO?

- After moving to Västerås, I started working on the assembly line for a factory. But I quickly realized it wasn't for me. I began looking for different positions and then saw that CERTEGO was looking for alarm technicians. I knew nothing about the industry and started as an apprentice in spring 2017. But on my first day, there was a shortage of lock technicians instead of alarm technicians. Fortunately, I had no preferences since I was completely new, so that's how it went. I worked as a lock technician for four years and then became a project manager.

What's the best thing about working here?

- Here in Västerås, we're a great bunch. Everyone can be honest, we're a team without pretense, and everyone helps each other. You can raise your hand if you need help. Not everyone can be the best at everything, and we have a good team spirit here. Also, our tasks are enjoyable. Helping people and ensuring they get good security solutions with the expertise we have.

You've been both in the field and now in the office. Is there a big difference?

- They are two completely different things. Sometimes I miss being out in the field and screwing around. It's great to meet a lot of people and to be active – which happens a lot when you work as a security technician. Then, I find it very fun to work with the sales process now, from inquiry to closing deals.

You're one of our employees who left and came back. What has that experience been like?

- It's been really fun to come back. I left because I wanted to try something new, and it was tough to resign. But in five years, you build up several friendships, so when the branch manager here in Västerås contacted me and asked if I was interested in possibly coming back, I immediately felt it sounded very interesting. CERTEGO is a great employer!

What do you think about the future of the security industry?

- Security will only increase, companies and critical infrastructure cannot deprioritize such issues. If you have a company, you need to have alarms and locks - or maybe even camera surveillance. Society has evolved over the last 15–20 years. When I was out and about in town, the worst that could happen was getting punched in the face. Today, people walk around with knives and guns. I don't think security will slow down. We've never had as many jobs in the last year as we have now.
