CERTEGO participates in the Nordic Circularity Piloting Programme – together with ASSA ABLOY

The pilots within the Nordic Circularity Piloting Programme are now starting, a Nordic initiative aimed at accelerating the development of circular solutions for technical equipment in buildings. A total of eight pilot projects will, over the next two years, test new models for reuse and refurbishment in areas such as HVAC systems, electrical and sanitary equipment, elevators, and access control systems. The pilots will be carried out in seven Nordic cities in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

One of these pilots focuses on the reuse of access control systems, where CERTEGO participates together with ASSA ABLOY.

Our role in the pilot

In this project, we will explore how access control systems can be reused in a safe, efficient, and scalable way. Together with ASSA ABLOY, we will:

· map customer needs, expectations, and willingness to pay in relation to reused products,

· analyze distribution flows to identify sustainable and cost-effective models,

· test and evaluate how circular business models can work in practice for access control systems.

The aim is to lay the foundation for new business models that can contribute to a more sustainable and resource-efficient construction sector – without compromising on safety, quality, or functionality.

A step towards a more circular construction industry

Technical equipment such as access control systems accounts for a significant part of a building’s total climate impact. By extending the lifespan of existing products, instead of always replacing them with new ones, we can reduce both waste and resource consumption.

The Nordic Circularity Piloting Programme brings together 21 actors from across the Nordic construction sector – from manufacturers and property owners to contractors and reuse experts. The programme is led by Combient Pure and supported by Nordic Innovation, with Cradlenet as the main partner together with ASSA ABLOY, Demontera, KONE, Multiconsult, NollaE, Skanska, Swegon, and Vasakronan.

The way forward

For CERTEGO, participation in this pilot is an opportunity to combine our expertise in access control systems with a clear sustainability agenda. Through close collaboration with ASSA ABLOY and the other actors in the programme, we want to help create solutions that can be scaled up and, in the long term, change how the industry views installation, use, and reuse of access control systems.

This is a concrete step from vision to action – where together we can lead the way towards a more circular building and real estate sector.
